Keeping children busy during the summer holidays:
fun and active ideas
The summer holidays are a wonderfully long period of freedom for children, but often a challenge for parents: how do you keep children busy during the summer holidays without them spending all day on the iPad?
More and more parents are searching online for ideas like “summer holiday activities for kids,” “outdoor play tips for kids,” “toys for outdoors,” “how to keep kids active during the holidays” and “gift ideas for summer outdoor toys.”
In this blog, we offer you practical inspiration to keep children active, creative, and especially outdoors — with lots of movement, adventure, and fun.
Why playing outside in the summer is so important.
During the holidays, children have a lot of free time. Without structure, they often end up spending more time in front of screens. But playing outside has huge benefits:
- More exercise and better motor development
- Fresh air and vitamin D
- Less screen time and more creativity
- Confidence through active play and exploration
The key? Activities that feel like play, not like “have to”.
